History and Focus

Armstrong learning logo Armstrong Learning was founded in 2001, to provide specialist training and support for people in the creative industries.

Our customers include large public sector organizations such as DWP, DfES and Jobcentre Plus as well as private sector businesses, colleges and industry specific training organizations such as Skillset, Media Training North West and Highlands and Islands Enterprise.

Other examples of our work include:
  • Consultancy and Training Needs Analysis for Highlands and Islands Enterprise
  • Blended Learning programmes in how to access the Entertainment industry
  • Instructionally designed learning activities to accompany existing college based courses
  • Our business draws on a diverse range of core expertise, combining senior educational management experience, specialist media and music industry knowledge and expert skills in training design and learner support, including skills in curriculum design, instructional design, mentoring and transferable skills.
Since then, Armstrong Learning has seen substantial expansion, with a committed and skilled workforce across the country, working in our core business areas.

The provision of creative industries training and support for musicians and creative entrepreneurs continues to play a key role in the business, with the launch this year of the private music business course, providing flexible, modular consultancy and CPD to musicians.

Our employability ‘welfare to work’ provision continues to expand and accounts for a large part of our core activities. We are proud to be involved in this work, which has enabled us to build successful working partnerships with other providers in the field, including A4E and Carter and Carter. We pride ourselves on our ability to provide high quality training and support to people, in innovative ways.

The future

Ongoing policy developments in the field of welfare to work and in the education and learning sector, particularly in terms of recent reports form a key part of our business development strategy.

We welcome potential partners who are as passionate as we are about high quality, cost effective and successful provision to a wide range of people, including NEET groups, disabled people, people with physical and mental health difficulties and disabilities and lone parents.
